What is an elementary education teachers degree?

On my college application I put down something like an AAT in Elementary Education (or something along those lines). This is the only thing I found that looked related and I know the school has related programs. Will this put me on the right path to becoming an elementary school teacher? Or did I select the wrong thing? If I did I haven't selected classes yet so would I be able to say I made a mistake?
